Hi,

40 BPM is the lowest setting.

You may have noticed I changed your user forum name. Check your email.

Hi
I saved a Midi file from Mixcraft , loaded it into Aria Maestosa "Freeware" changed the tempo to 30 BPM
saved the midi , loaded the midi into mixcraft and mixcraft then showed 30 BMP.
Why is the lowest setting 40 BPM, what is the advantage of this

Hi,

Because it's not musically useful for most people to set the tempo lower than that. What minimum tempo setting would you like to see? 30?

How about 1

The user of the software decides what is useful
Lowering the BPM is a useful hack to quickly change the speed of the music without changing
the actual music, for say testing purposes.
I am personally using it to slow down piano midi files to use in Synthesia for practice.
Synthesia users would say you can slow it down in Synthesia, but then the practice speed is not accurate.
Therefore i have a very valid reason to want a lower than 40 Bpm option

thank you for your response.

I agree, to me it would certainly be "musically useful" to be able to lower the BPM past 40. This level seems very arbitrary. One beat per minute is much more sensible as it allows the user to determine whether or not going slower than 40 would be "musically useful" to them or not.

And here's another question: how is it "musically useful" to go to 400 BPM? If the bounds are set by some subjective judgment of what speeds might be meaningful to the users, how did you end up there?

Hi,

Mixcraft 9 has step recording, which allows you to record MIDI notes at your own speed. See page 121 of the manual for more info.

You can cut the speed of your audio clips in half here:

You could replace your low metronome sound with silence and get down to 10bpm!

Yes!!
1- Double your original tempo midi track (ex: from 30 to 60 bpm) Then load it on Acoustica.
2- In the lower menu (Project/Sound/Mixer/Library) Go to "Sound" and "Time Stretch", then "rate adjustement" to 200% It will change the lenght of the MIDI so now is half velocity; it means 30 BPM
It works with any tempo you need, just make the maths and put the "rate adjustement" you need.
Cheers.
