Has anyone come across a plugin that has a slow but adjustable audio attack that would produce the 'bowing' effect similar to the guitar on 'I Need You' by The Beatles? This effect used to be available on old hardware noise gates, but for some reason it's not available on the software versions.
I know this could be performed using the level envelope in Mixcraft, but it's just too fiddly and impractical when used with lots of notes. Such an effect might also be useful for reducing the click when plucking a guitar string.

I'd suggest using CC#11 but that presents the same issues as the clip volume automation. There are some patches in Acoustica strings and some other free libraries that I can't remember right now called 'slow' (strings slow) but that might be too slow for your uses.

he's just rolling the volume knob real quick. you could do that w/ a compressor or even a reverb or delay.
if you're really good w/ the timing you could use this-
