mp3 to wave converter plus - weird results

Post by calliandra »

Hi!

I've been using the mp3 to wave converter for - sheez, as long as I've been converting sound files to other formats! - and have never EVER had any problems.

So you can imagine how puzzled I am that today, when I was converting an mp3 to wave format, the resulting wav-file sounded distorted and seemed to be missing chunks in certain frequency ranges.

The original mp3 file sounds good and full, despite its (to me, unusual) 80kbit encoding at 22Khz.
I tried changing the conversion settings for wav, which doesn't help.
I also tried converting to WMA and mp3 - and the results are corroded in these formats too.
Finally, I tested the converter with other mp3 files and found they convert just fine - so it's not the software installation.

What in the world can be happening here?? Can it possibly have to do with the mp3 format??
Thanks for any help on this one!
