Hey Y'all,
I'm using MC7 Pro, build 303. Up until now, when I wanted to upload a song to Sound Cloud for example, I would complete all editing and mixing, then add mastering effects and then mix down to MP3 format. Then I would upload the MP3 to Sound Cloud or other sites.
Now we have the newly added "Publishing" feature. Before I try it I have some questions.
The manual says that the Publishing feature includes rendering. So, am I right in thinking that I would complete all editing, mixing, and apply mastering effects to my song, and then just go through the Publishing steps. Or, do I still need to mix down to a MP3 first? Since the Publishing feature will also render, does this mean that MC is automatically creating an MP3 as part of the Publishing process? If so, where is it saved?
Maybe I'm just missing something. (Yea, I know some will say I'm missing something alright. )
Thanks in advance for assistance.
Barry

Re: Questions about Publishing Feature
Hi Barry,
I've only used the publishing feature to send to Facebook, but I didn't have to save to MP3. It automatically created an audio file and uploaded it to FB. I assume it's the same for Soundcloud.
I can't see it saving an MP3 file anywhere. You will still have to do that I imagine.
Cheers
Rob

Re: Questions about Publishing Feature
The publish feature automatically renders and uploads an MP3.

If MP3 is your preferred format, you can skip the step you were previously performing and let the new upload function do that.
Note that if you upload to Soundcloud and you wish to provide the opportunity for people to download high quality uncompressed files, you would want to upload wav files.

Re: Questions about Publishing Feature
Hey Mark Bliss,
Thanks for the response and the link. That clarifies it a bit more.
I take this to mean that I would prepare my song in the usual manner (edit, mix, apply mastering effects). Then, instead of mixing down, I would Publish.
Thanks again for the info.

Hey Barry!
Yep.
Yes, sorry, I wasn't entirely clear. The step suggested skipping was the rendering to MP3.
