Strumming Guitar VST

Hi Crafty Mixers.

Well my Acoustic(a!) - see what I did there! - guitar skills really are not very good at all. But my music theory, compositional abilities, and keyboard skills seem to get me by.

Has anybody used any of the strumming guitar VSTs out there with Mixcraft to, like me, complement their music. I use Mixcraft 7 (32 bit) on Windows 7, 3GB of RAM, tons of hard disk space - although thinking of upgrading as my PC is getting old. I mainly put demo's together to then share with the bands I'm in or just for my own amusement.

I've listened to the Sunbird demo (https://www.acousticsamples.net/sunbird) and like its musicality, and then there's the AAS Strum GS2, which looks popular. Then there's the Musiclab suite of products plus others of course.

All advice greatly appreciated.

There are lots of great guitar libs out there, some dedicated to strumming, others are guitars with strumming capabilities. While some have their own propietary player, many require the full version of Kontakt (but once you get that, it opens up a whole new world of high quality libraries).

These are all good-sized libs, and you will need more than 3GB of ram (and at least a second hard drive) to see decent performance.

Dedicated Guitar Strumming libs:

- Native Instruments Session Guitarist Strummed 1 and 2.

- Ilya Efimov's Strum bundle (Includes Acoustic, Electric, Nylon... but you can buy them separately).

Guitar libs with varying strumming capabilities:

- Orange Tree Samples

- Amplesound

- Indiginus

- Pettinhouse

There are tons more, but those are the ones I use (or have used in the past).

ujam has some acoustic guitar vst that sometimes go on big discount if you're on tight budget. I play guitar myself and haven't used it much, but there's on called Silk I got on sale and tried a bit just to see and thought it sounded decent. There's one called Amber thats kindof a standard acoustic guitar. I have a few other strummers from other vendors and ultimately find I just grab my acoustic guitar if I'm doing that type of song though. It's so much more flexible to just mic and play your own parts if you can learn them well enough to record. jmho. all the best,

Hi,

Amplesound has some of the best guitar VSTs I've heard. They also have their own interface so the instruments do not rely on kontakt. They have a Strummer built in interface and also a modifier in the Riff builder section to control the ms between the individual notes in a chord to manage the "struminess" per chord when you are building complete riffs or songs.
