Playback Speed
Did I imagine it or did someone say there is a variable playback speed feature in MC9?
Re: Playback Speed
Never heard of this. Is that a new feature?

Re: Playback Speed
Hi,
There is tempo automation on the master track.
Click on the master track's Volume setting and switch it to Tempo.

Re: Playback Speed
Thank you Greg but I'm sure you know - as we all do - that changing the tempo just doesn't work. I thought after the discussions we've had on this forum we would have a feature to control playback speed by now.Acoustica Greg wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2019 8:18 am Hi,

Re: Playback Speed
Hi,
You're talking about the new Mixcraft 9 feature? This isn't changing tempo with track markers (although that still works, too).

Re: Playback Speed
Yes, all it does is change the tempo - just like changing the tempo in the main project GUI. As soon as you change tempo, all the clips in the project are no longer aligned. You must know this, it's been discussed many times.

Re: Playback Speed
Hi,
Then the answer to your original question is no. I didn't know if you knew about Mixcraft 9's new tempo automation feature, which is something people have been requesting for a long, long time.
Having a variable speed playback cursor would be a feature request.

Re: Playback Speed
Wanted to add my support for this..
Swapped back from Reaper some time back (MC is just so simpler ), but had to swap back for my current project. I'm doing a multitrack song with quite a few tracks, but need to slow everything down TEMPORARILY while I do a complicated guitar part. [Yes, not that good of a guitarist but can cope at 80 percent playback rate.]
Easy with Reaper - just drop the rate to 0.8; record the part, then back up to 1 when done.
Would be a welcome feature in any upgrade

Re: Playback Speed
Yes I always seem to have trouble explaining the concept here yet it is the most basic of functions. I'm not a programmer but I'm guessing it would only take a few lines of code.

Re: Playback Speed
Hi,
Is that why you want it? To slow down songs to learn them? It would purely be for playback?

Re: Playback Speed
Not to learn Greg, To record. Slow the project down in order to make the part easier to record, then return it to the normal speed again. I've needed this feature so many times in my studio for clients over the years and I have not been able to provide it.
Even in the 80s we used to do it frequently. Admittedly the pitch changes when you adjust the speed of a multitrack tape, but at least we had the facility. Mixcraft doesn't even have it 40 years down the line!

Hi,
And making sure that all clips are set to use Project tempo doesn't cut it?

Re: Playback Speed
Try it Greg. As I've said so many times before - including this thread - when you change the tempo, all the clips in the project dance all over the place and go out of synch with each other* The feature is next to useless.
*Unless you have no edits at all (i.e. only one clip per channel), and every clip is butted up to the front (i.e. left hand side) of the project.

Re: Playback Speed
FWIW: I’d also like to add my support for this too, in my opinion Mixcraft really should have this feature.
