Acoustica User Forums

Hey all, I’m a new user, still on trial. This question is for the long time MixCraft users: Is MixCraft worth it? How does it compare to the other DAWs out there in terms of features and accessibility? I’ve noticed a few posts on here, as well as in the fb group, about some of the issues with MC9. Taking those into account; are you still satisfied with MixCraft? Is it worth it?

The choice depends on your user type and expectations.

Overall, in my opinion- best "bang for your buck" on the market. Not even close.
I have used, in varying degrees, maybe 6 other DAW's. Each has strengths and weaknesses. Part of the advantage for my use is familiarity, having used Mixcraft since v4.5, I know the program fairly well.
It does what I need very well, and the next closest I would consider is more than three times the cost.

So its a yes from me.

Like Mark, I'm a long term user since V5. I've also used others - Reaper, ProFools, Harrison... but MC has by far the easiest learning curve. It can do what all others do (crunch one's and zero's) and has much more besides - like all the included instruments and FX's.
Stick with it and learn; follow the videos - it'll serve you well in the long run

I’m also a long time happy Acoustica/MIxcraft user and I highly recommend MIxcraft.

1. MIxcraft is very powerful. It does everything I need, plus more.
2. MIxcraft is very affordable.
3. MIxcraft is very user friendly. Very fast learning curve.
4. Acoustica Customer Support is fantastic.
5. The Acoustica/MIxcraft forums are great and full of friendly helpful users.

I'll admit, at times I'm drawn in by the flair of other DAWs. But I always come back to MC. It's just way too easy to navigate and the workflow is seamless. True, I've had glitchy issues since the very beginning. Probably more due to my system or some buggy plugin. But the pros outweigh the cons for me. It's still better than the learning curve required for most other DAWs.

Been with MC since v6, just a hobbyist so it's by far the best DAW for me that I tried out years ago, glad I stuck with it. Would also like to comment on the negative comments you've heard, two things, one is that people will be quick to complain rather than praise, and most of the time it's either user error or the system that their working on may not have enough juice to do what they want. I think that FB brings out those even more so.

I'd also like to give props to Acoustica for their YouTube page and this forum and the folks who run it and participate, for the most part a pretty decent collective.

Hi,
I am a user since version 8. It was very easy to learn. Has features that more expensive DAW's have. Comes with good plug-in tools, and virtual instruments. It accepts third party plug-ins, and virtual instruments. The Acoustica support is great. The teaching videos are a great way to learn the features of Mixcraft. The forums are also a great place to learn, and share knowledge on using Mixcraft.
It even does video. It has basic video editing options. I made my first music video in April. Was easy to do. ( https://youtu.be/rQCCBerr37U )

I also want to add that Acoustica Mixcraft has the very best Customer Support team in the business, honestly there‘s none better, period!!!

I'm a new user as well, but I'm on the fence about it being a great product.
There is another DAW that was just updated with nearly the same features that I would actually use, and I'm tempted to jump ship because
I've had some crashes, (read VST2 support is 'iffy'), found information missing in the mixcraft manual- and after dealing with support, feel more like Mixcraft is 'pro-sumer' (with aspirations to be professional).

Hmm, that’s really hard to believe. Maybe you didn’t follow-up, or follow Support instructions?

Attention: Acoustica Greg... Do you remember Plisskin contacting Acoustica Support?

Hi,

The issue is that Mixcraft sends an "All Notes Off" command when MIDI playback stops, and Plisskin would like an option to not do that (for use with his MIDI hardware).

One workaround would be to use MIDI-Ox or something to filter out the All Notes Off command.

which other DAWS do this? (spit out MIDI CCs you didn't record or engage)

... and leave out a toggle/(option bit) for the auto MIDI CC

... and omit the very existence of the 'feature' from the manual
how long has Mixcraft had this?- and it's never made it into the manual?

sorry but I found it bizarre.

wasn't fun to get Mixcraft and immediately have to fight issues.
