MIDI

Post by btyrer278 »

I have an old Roland rd-170 keyboard that I've connected to my computer with a MIDI to USB connector. Mixcraft gives an message saying there is a change in MIDI devices when I plug it in, but I can't for the life of me get it to play. HELP!!

Hi,

Double-check that you have the MIDI Out on the keyboard connected to the MIDI In part of the cable (and the MIDI In on the keyboard connected to the MIDI Out on the cable).

Also make sure no other programs are running when you test this, because sometimes other programs can intercept the incoming MIDI.

If you're using a USB hub, try plugging into your computer directly. You can also just try a different USB port on your computer (some computers have different kinds of ports, like both USB 2.0 and USB 3.0 ports).

That said, there are some low-quality super inexpensive MIDI-to-USB cables that just don't work right.
