Bit O' Bee Gees

Post by TrevsAudio »

Hey guys!

After a brief heart attack last weekend and a two day stay in hospital (all good now :D ); I finally finished this 1969 cover.

Piano and strings were a pain, but I finally have it as I want it.

Enjoy!

What! I thought you were in good health since you've been putting out some music. Great rendition on the song by the way. :D

Nicely done! Well produced and played. Have never heard it before, so that was a pleasant surprise!

Thanks Markus, I appreciate your opinion.

The Bee Gee's (Brothers, Gibb) were a Brit based Aussie group, and this was a hit from their 1969 album Odessa. 8)

Hi trevlyns,

It didn't used to be like that, but in the meantime it is perhaps a law of nature, according to my impression, that one becomes more and more sentimental, because the approaching end of life is now already in sight...

We are about the same generation and of course the Bee Gees also accompanied me through the corresponding years, but I didn't know this song or maybe it had slipped my mind.

Thanks for the song (was that your voice?). Although I didn't understand everything - my English is enough to understand, but unfortunately it's not fluent - but it obviously tells about human life (oneself so small, but the candles, the glow of lights on the Christmas tree so bright, so promising...).

Best wishes for you in health

Thanks for your kind words Seelengold :D

Yes, I retired in 2011 and decided to look at this thing called home recording. I had been playing guitar but mainly bass, from the age of 10 in 1959. I just wanted to do recordings of my favorite music that I'd grown up with. Being mainly British influenced, this included the likes of The Shadows and then all the great British bands of the 60's and 70's. Beatles, Hollies, you name it 8)

I stopped playing in bands in about 2000, but always had a guitar handy so when retirement came around, I was keen to get started. I started on Mixcraft 5 and only had a brief departure to Reaper but was soon back with 'old faithful'. Can't recommend it highly enough.

And yes, I do sing and do the harmonies as well as playing guitar and bass. I have a small MIDI keyboard which is great for the Mixcraft instruments. I use EZDrummer and EZKeys to help with drums and keys.

I'm 73 and hope to continue this way into the future :D

Hi trevlyns,

first, before I forget it, I add these: Animals, Kinks, Hollies, Herman´s Hermits "No milk today..."

In Germany: Lords, Rattles, the most known german "british" bands at that time. This song of the Lords is up to this day in my head: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZwAe6CCqwUc

Keep on singing... it sounds good!

Unfortunately I don´t play an instrument, part from harmonica, but really only for at home.

I have a MIDI keyboard too, but I didn´t learn to play this like a piano-player and so it´s quite tedious to compose with one finger only.

Best regards
