Never Been Any Reason - Head East - 1975

Couldn't do the vocals justice, this is an instrumental. If you can find it, listen to the original. :D :D :D :D

I like your arrangement Tom - gutsy guitars 8)

Also getting to the point where I can't do the vox justice, so perhaps a few more instrumentals from me too :D

Great job! Those drums must have taken some time to get right? I had to listen to the original, and I thought I´d never heard this song before but I had, a long time ago. But I never knew who the band was. Not an easy song to cover. Did you pick out all the parts by ear?

Thanks for the feedback, yes the drums took a while.
Used a tab for the bass and synth notes. Not too difficult a song musically. The vocals are what really makes it. Unfortunately I don't have that range. :D

Good Job!

I hope my feedback isn't too annoying:

For your lead intro synth, try MinimogueVA with the preset "voyager brain salad." It's a monophonic synth so you may need two or more tracks of it for the harmony parts. Play the intro an octave lower than in your recording. If you're trying to capture that 70s kind of up front dryness, during the guitar cowbell break, try getting rid of that reverb on all the instruments, and maybe boost the lower frequencies a bit - just a touch. And also center the guitar a little more so the sound field isn't too wide. But keep the drums a little wider in the stereo field. Each guitar lick should be answered with a hammond chord during the singing. I think the dryness of the original brings this out.

I know you're doing your thing and you're not trying to "be" that band, but hopefully my suggestions offer some ideas to try out.
