How Do You Adjust The Volume For Library Sounds?

Post by AfxTwn »

Hi, I have tried searching but I can't find the answer, how do you adjust the volume that the library loops and samples play at when you click on them to preview them? They are way too loud for me. I know I can drag them into the timeline but it's easier to quickly preview them by clicking on them so I would like to be able to adjust their volume if that's possible.

Thanks.

Hi,

Look on the Mixer tab for the Preview track. This controls the volume for the library sounds along with other Mixcraft system sounds, like the freezing sound.

Turn it down 12dB (to start with) and then click on the ??? to make the preview track disappear.

Oh wait! What was I thinking!

Thanks for that Greg. I think I had seen that preview track answer somewhere on the forum before but I couldn't find it again.

Just out of interest, are all of the sounds in the library normalised and not limited in some way? Just wondering why they are so ridiculously loud in the first place. I know the preview volume reduction helps with previewing them but then as soon as you add them onto a track lane, the volume goes right back up until you adjust the fader for that track or gain stage it in some way.

Yes, I have found loops and such to be pretty consistently 'normalized' and therefore one needs to trim or gain stage as needed.

I guess the explanation is that the content producers feel it is competitive in some way to be loud. They are consistently too loud for mixing as presented.
