Some Tech Advice Please...

Post by TrevsAudio »

Hey Guys!

I think my old and trusted audio interface is about to give notice.

It's a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 first generation which I bought second hand in 2014

All of a sudden, about two days ago, it started random crackles on playback. Maybe just once or twice for a second or two over the duration of a song. I use headphones exclusively and I know it's not the cable because I tried it on my Focusrite VRM box and it works fine.

Well, I got GAS and ordered a new Focusrite Scarlett Solo (3rg Gen), but here is my question.

I have loads to be carrying on with. Do you think it would be OK to record with this interface until the new one arrives?

EDIT: Solved! New baby arrives Monday - I'll take a day off. :D

Thanks!

Hi,

1st gen Focusrites have a lot of known issues, so you should be much happier with a 3rd gen. Let us know how it goes!

Thanks for the info Greg.

I'd not experienced any problems with my Gen 1 until the matter reported in this post. That was the only reason I bought Focusrite again.

Ironically, the problem resolved a day or two later, so I'm now sitting with two fine interfaces. :D

Hi,

The 3rd gen. one supposedly has better preamps.
