I'm so confused...

It's a digital sound...
There's nothing analog about it.

(Do not attempt to correct me, when it comes to virtual synths I prefer to remain ignorant.)

Of course your are literally correct- it's a VST so it's 100% digital - emulating an analog synth

When I got home from work today, I learned the first half of the song. Here's an excerpt:

And here's the main synth patch if you wanted to try it out. I turned up the overdrive a bit on the mixer to give it just a little more edge.

[Edit]
Edited the file to include the correct file extension

I didn't realize I could access the actual preset file but if you right click on the preset name there is a show file option in the drop down.

Save the preset in

%appdata%\CherryAudio\DCO-106\Presets\User Presets\Brass

I have question concerning DCO-106 as I am a complete newB to this fantastic piece of software and midi.
My ASIO sample rate is 44100 buffer is very low at 256 for years just recording a couple guitars SD3 and electric bass vocals and maybe some midi piano. And at 256 buffer worked great.
Now trying some of these presets in DCO-106 I had to increase buffer to 560 to get rid of snaps and crackles and I'm sure I could go higher.
Is this normal and to be expected?

Are there any video tutorials on this synth so I could get my foot in the door with it?

fwiw, when I tried it I didn't have to adjust any settings. I run at 256 buffer usually. I think I was just playing around on a track that had addictive drums and maybe 2 instances of dco106, so wasn't a big track. I do go into my windows power and sleep settings and set performance to high performance, but I have to do that for pretty much all music, including guitar sims, or I get crackling.

Hi,

In the stand-alone there is a settings gear for the DCO-106. Under Audio/MIDI you can set the sample rate and buffer size specifically for that instance.

In the VST and the standalone there is a Q option next to the keyboard icon. This allows you to control the oversampling quality of the synth. Higher quality levels will take more processing power.

I read somewhere that this synth takes a bit of processing power. But if it's any consolation, when I did a particular cover, I used 6 tracks with 7 separate instances of DCO-106. Though the most DCO tracks that played simultaneously was 3.

I also had an Acousticas Overide Guitar track with it's own effects, a phased clav track, Acoustica's Finger bass track with effects, 2 drum kits playing simultaneously, a synth "clap" sound all playing at the same time. And a vocal track in between the larger music breaks. 13 total tracks with 2 instruments on a couple of tracks without crackle at 48000 Hz, 256 buffer, and 32 bit recording.

I just thought of this thread. My buddy recently sent me a file of him singing on "Are Friends Electric" using the music I created in Mixcraft a year ago or so.

I'd post it but I get nervous about copyright stuff.

At any rate, it reminded me of Cars and the synths I programmed for that using the DCO-106. I thought I'd share those presets if anyone wanted to mess around with them.
