Having a blast!

Post by Thomas James Haller »

You canÔÇÖt help but really enjoy Mixcraft 4. This hobby gives me all kinds of fun and laughs! IÔÇÖve had this program just a few weeks, and I canÔÇÖt tell you how much fun and pleasure I get from it.

This recording I did using vocals and acoustic guitar, and stock bass and drum tracks. ItÔÇÖs called ÔÇ£Battle the Clown.ÔÇØ

The video and sound quality really sucks on YouTube, but hey, for the kicks and giggles who really cares.

It took me a while how to figure out how to back up the MX4 files onto a data CD, but I finally found them under Local Disk C: / Program Files / Acoustica Mixcraft 4 / Example Projects, then I copied them into a folder file with all my pictures and writings, and copied the ÔÇ£Backup March 24, 2009ÔÇØ folder onto a data CD.

I do this every so often just in case my computer outright dies, like my last one did (I only lost about a month of pictures and writings). I checked one of the files on the CD to make sure it loads up fine.

With as long as it takes to create a finished song, that you might want to edit later, I would say itÔÇÖs worth doing solid data dumps every so often onto good quality data CDs.

I plan on getting another hard drive for backup, but with the death of my last computer, my ÔÇ£toysÔÇØ budget is shot for a while, because of this new Dell computer. I was lucky to get an XP pro, instead of a Vista, so all my software toys still work great.

I just bought a copy of Adobe Photoshop Elements 7 (on sale at Costco), so I can now add words onto some pictures, and edit the pictures for a better slide show.

If the ÔÇ£toysÔÇØ budget ever recovers, it would be fun to have a moderately priced video editing program.

This is a song I wrote about my winter home in Paamul, Mexico. I wintered there between 1999 and 2006.
