Assign instrument to certain keys on MIDI keyboard

Post by pugsport »

Hi there

Does anybody know how to assign instruments to certain keys on a MIDI keyboard?

As an example, I would like some sounds that come out of a VST instument plugin to be assigned to a couple of keys on the MIDI keyboard and those from another VST instrument plugin assigned to some different keys on the keyboard.

It's just so I can basically have a load of different sounds on different keys so I'm not just loading for example a french horn and having the whole MIDI keyboard giving off the french horn at different pitches so matter which key I press.

Is this possible or is there a 3rd party plugin or something I can get hold of that will do this for me??

Thank you so much in advance.

Hi,

Click on the keyboard icon on the track with the instrument clip. Select Show Details and look to the right of the virtual instrument for the Range column. Click on that to set the range of keys you want for that instrument. This way, you can make your own preset with any virtual instrument mapped to any set of keys.
