Since my M-Audio Firewire interface will only allow 44khz recording if it's my default Windows Sound Device, I'm considering re-installing my Sound Blaster Audigy Platinum EX.
It's got a Midi Interface and additional Firewire interface anyway, so I can use the jacks.
I have a few questions (I know a few people said they still use the Audigy's).
1: If I use the Audigy as my default Windows sound device (And the M-Audio Firewire as my recording device), will I benefit from the Audigy's built-in DSP chip for VST processing? (I managed to grind my computer to a halt the other day with 8 tracks and 3 FX per track while recording a 9th.)
2: If I configure the Audigy as my default windows sound device, will I lose the ability to use the M-Audio for monitoring the playback during recording?
I guess I'll know some of that this weekend when I try it out

Your best course of action is to put in the audigy card and then see what shows up in mixcraft preferences. If you don't use asio, you might be able to use the audigy as playback while using the other one for recording, but you never know until you try.
