Re: Alternatives to Soundcloud?
Hi trevlyns - I joined hearthis premium (I may be sorry - I didn't check it out at all and I have a follower already which seems odd - and he/she downloaded some of my music I had it set that you had to follow me to download but I didn't 'realize anyone could follow me without an invitation They are...

Re: Alternatives to Soundcloud?
The idea of a shared drive is easiest - but it requires a download or a link to an app to even sample the song. The advantage of soundcloud of course is the player is right there. I suppose the other suggestions have the same thing? (And why, when you mention Bandcamp, do I find myself saying "...

Alternatives to Soundcloud?
I finally got around to posting my music to Soundcloud (actually I posted one a couple years ago) so that friends and family could listen at their convenience (if they so desired). All my music is cover versions - 60s / 70s classic rock mainly. Three of my songs were rejected for copyright reasons. ...

Re: So confused by Kontakt player...
Hi Greg - your instructions on how to run multiple horns on one track may well be the solution; but more important, I'm glad to know I don't need to run multiple instances of Kontakt for multiple horns; I figured there was a way but I couldn't find it from internet searches.
Thanks much!

So confused by Kontakt player...
I have a song I'm working on with several horns - I use Chris Hein Horns Compact; I can't say I know much on how to get dynamics out of it but it has always worked fine before But the songs I've used it for only had 3 or 4 horns in it; this one has 6 and that may be my issue I seem to have to load a...

Re: Send track confusion
Yes, Mark - that's it. Just in the sections where the horns do the loud, to soft to loud again dynamic. I have it perfect and since it's in four places it would have been easier to copy/paste the automation. I did it brute force but I do want to learn how to do it. Don't spoil me BTW! Let me figure ...

Re: Send track confusion
OK - thanks again Mark and everyone! Got it all to work great. I used the send even though putting it on the submix would work as well in this case. One thing I didn't realize is the "wetness" of the reverb was set rather low in the plugin so I kicked it up. I'm getting better - next step ...

Re: Send track confusion
Did that help? Yep it helped convince me this is way more complicated than I thought :) Ok, so I'm in effect thinking of a send track as a submix. I think that's the actual disconnect I have Creating a submix fixes the "single volume automation" desire, not the send The send eliminates the...

Send track confusion
I'm trying to get smarter as I find time for this hobby. So for the first time I'm using a send track (Don't laugh) I have a four piece horn section (using Chris Hein Horns via Kontakt - that maybe is pertinent?) And I want some reverb on all so I inserted a send track, put on a reverb ;lug in, and ...

Re: Problem mixing down with DB-33 hammond emulator
Hi Greg -
I knew that! But forgot.
I had it set right in MX8 but forgot this bit of wisdom when I upgraded to MX9. So I set it (48000 for both now) and it's great.
Thanks much!

Re: EZ Drummer levels
Very helpful Mark - being specific to EZ Drummer. Putting compression on helped my goal of getting the peak and average levels under control - but the sound was really no different as I said. So I wondered if I was simply "checking a box" to doing things the way I think they "should&q...

Problem mixing down with DB-33 hammond emulator
Here's a real strange one. I'm using the DB-33 plugin for organ parts. I have several other tracks - a guitar that I've played and recorded. then a bunch of midi instruments (horns, drums. bass, piano). When I mix down what I have so far, there is a very unpleasant undertone - actually pretty loud. ...

Re: EZ Drummer levels
Oh sure - just when I pretty much understood this (enough to make sense in my mind) you throw "parallel compression" at me! :) We'll save that for another day. I put compression on the drums using the Acoustica plugin; then tried again with the classic one. Both times I used the "drum...

Re: EZ Drummer levels
All great suggestions. Understand that the overall sound is OK (to me at least) and my question was a bit more academic than a real request for help. Again, it passes the "ears" test but the meters on the drums being higher than my rule of thumb makes it fail the "eye" test. That...
