Re: New Computer

Hi Brian, I use an Inspiron 3847 (12 GB of RAM) with Mixcraft Studio Pro 7 and find that it works very well. I compose and record vocals and guitar and keyboards thru a M-Audio box with a Shure SM58 microphone and also do direct midi inputs from my Yamaha PSR-S910 keyboard. Typically, I don't get mu...

Re: nanoKontrol2 with Mixcraft 7?

Hi Greg, Thanks for the additional advice. There are so many variables potentially involved that it's helpful to have a checklist when things go wrong. I'm very pleased that I can now fully use the nk2 with MX7 and I'm having a good time mixing with it. For those who encounter nk2 problems in the fu...

Re: nanoKontrol2 with Mixcraft 7?

The original usb plugin was to a usb hub into a usb 2 slot in the front of the computer, that worked, but when I plugged into the usb 2 slot next to it, then the nk2 would not work. If I plugged a Maschine Mikro into the second slot to use as a controller it did work, so it was not the slot that was...

Re: nanoKontrol2 with Mixcraft 7?

Okay, I believe the problem with the nk2 and MX7 may be solved, but I'll do a few more tests to make sure. I installed MX7 on a laptop computer and tried it with the nk2 just to see if everything would work and it did. I then went back to the Dell desktop computer that I want to use for music record...

Re: nanoKontrol2 with Mixcraft 7?

Here's a screen shot that shows the presets that I believe are causing the problem:

Re: nanoKontrol2 with Mixcraft 7?

Thanks again for the very helpful advice. I have made some progress with the nk2 problem in MX7 but have not yet arrived at a fully working solution. Today I called Tech Support at Sweetwater and received some excellent assistance in restoring the nk2 to its working order. The technician, Kyle, took...

Re: nanoKontrol2 with Mixcraft 7?

Thanks very much for the clear directions but I seem to be at a stall point in using nanoKontrol2 with MX7. The problem now is that nk2 doesn't show up as a midi resource so there is no way to carry out the control/command assignments with Midi Learn in MX7 . In other words, when I look at Preferenc...

Re: nanoKontrol2 with Mixcraft 7?

Hi Greg, Thanks very much. Yes, I did look for help in the nanoKontrol2 Owner's Manual but didn't find re-set instructions. I also looked for help in the Korg Editor manual and in Korg and Mixcraft forums. All I could find about doing a reset was at the Sweetwater help site, but those instructions a...

nanoKontrol2 with Mixcraft 7?

I've been enjoying using Mixcraft Studio Pro 7 with its valuable Performance Pad capabilities. I decided that I might be able to use the Performance Pad even more flexibly if I tried it with a better midi control surface tool so I bought the Korg nanoKontrol2. After downloading and installing the ne...

Re: Performance panel in action

I'm continuing to explore using the Performance Panel for composing and finding it very useful. I've found that the ease of setting up cells (either from sound libraries or by copying and pasting in my own) makes it possible to more easily try many different combinations in a shorter time for melodi...

Re: Performance panel in action

Hi, We'll have some tutorial videos one of these days. In the meantime, were you able to map the Maschine to the grid squares? Right-click on clips in the performance panel to set the way that the clips are triggered. You can press P to open and close the Performance panel. Greg Hi Greg, The basic ...

Re: Performance panel in action

I believe the Performance Panel is a very good addition to Mixcraft, another reason to get Mixcraft Pro 7. It seems to me that it's a tool that can be used for both composing/recording as well as performing. I'm mainly interested in the composing aspect and would like to learn more about how to smoo...

Re: 64 or 32?

Thanks very much for the advice. I believe I'll install both versions and test which seems to best meet my needs with Mixcraft Pro Studio 7. I do have an older Toshiba laptop that runs my Mixcraft Pro Studio 6, but it has only 4 GB of RAM and is stressed quickly whenever I run several Native Instrum...

Re: 64 or 32?

Thanks for the information. The computer I will be using is a 64 bit Dell Inspiron with 12 GB of RAM running Windows 7 Pro. Most of the time my recordings and mixes stay within about five to eight tracks and I record both with audio microphones and with VST plugins (most from Native Instruments Komp...

64 or 32?

I just upgraded to Mixcraft Pro Studio 7. However, I'm unsure about whether to use the 32 bit or 64 bit installation. My computer can handle the 64 bit option but I don't know what the advantages and disadvantages would be. Please advise.
Thanks, jhart
