Eric,
Many thanks.
You inadvertently helped me to find that very sound.
Moved a dial inside the Kontakt player and whoomf.
Sounds spot on!
Nice one.

That's the one alright.
Aren't they great sounding things?
The samples I have sound just like that so it must be the way I am programming them isn't working.
Thanks for the feedback.

I'm just curious to know whether the Oud sounds realistic.

As an aside, does this Oud sample sound realistic to y'all?

Ps. Here's something you might be able to do (double-check with NI): when installing Komplete it's still program by program. So you could just install the pianos on your wife's computer and omit them from yours. That way there's no duplicate products in use. Shoot off an email to them and see what ...

That's a great idea Rob.
I've sent off an email posing that very question.
Fingers crossed!

BTW, please don't feel obliged to reply quickly.
I really don't want you or anyone else to feel obliged.

Hope you had a nice weekend mate.

I tried this one out and had no joy:

Don't really know what it does as I was just trying to replicate David's problem.
It repeatedly crashed MC though.
I'm sure David will be happy to see someone else on the case. :D

So, what is the difference between a graphic equalizer and a parametric or semi-parametric equalizer anyway?
How should I use them in a mix?

Eric has a very concise little article here which should clear that up for you:

You might come across something like this: "Roll off some low-end and boost a little in the mid to highs." What this refers to is equalization. To 'roll off some low-end' means to use an equalizer to lower the output of some of the low-end (bass frequencies) by using the faders on the inte...

Technical Jargon Explained

Many newcomers to the world of recording, mixing and mastering are assured of running into a store of technical jargon that can leave them feeling a little overwhelmed and I got to thinking a thread that explains the jargon in everyday terms might be very helpful. If you are knowledgeable in the fie...

Click on the metronome icon to the left of the main volume slider.
If it is highlighted it will sound during playback.
You can also click the '123' next to it to activate or deactivate the pre-count.
Double-click 'BPM' next to that to open up the related editor.

Thanks so much for the advice. You make me think even more about professional mixing/mastering because I don't even know what a Stereo widener/expander is. As for the piano in that particular tune, I do plan on remixing using Pianimissio and MX5. I thing that should beef up the piano some. I'll kee...

Nevermind Rob, I sorted it out. Esther (my wife) would likely be using her piano libraries at the same time that I would be using the other Komplete libraries on a different install and it seems they will deactivate both copies if that occurs. It looks like I will have to buy Komplete 7 and Classica...

Hi Dave,

Just save a copy of your original project (File>Save as)
Ensure your original is saved first.
Then open the copy and delete the audio/MIDI and your effects settings will be ready to go with some new audio.

Hi,
You might find this video useful:

It is aimed at mastering but has some interesting points about possible loss of dynamic range with a compressor on a master track.
