That is basically the trouble I have had. Too small waveform to process. Especially with tape, where the track markers may have to be changed. I think I will stay with 12 to 14 tracks and not mess with progress. Your experience doing 28-30 tracks would not work for me. My eyes are not good enough, I...

How long?

How long can SIA record on one file? For example, I usually find it easier to process when I record 12 tracks or so in one file. With records and cassette tapes, this works fine. I am now starting to work with 7" open reel tapes, which are much longer in recorded time. Most of these tapes will ...

I found the problem. It was the needle. I guess that a load of quarters is too much for a $2.00 sapphire needle that had to be all of 40 years old. I have been getting really good results using "Vinyl Clean and EQ". How do I reset the EQ? That sounds interesting. I have learned, the hard w...

I Have A Question

I have been recording vinyl records that are in extremely poor condition. Some of them have to be played on an old cheap turntable with quarters taped to the tone arm to keep the record from skipping!! The results have been nothing short of amazing. There was so much noise on these records that it s...

Observations about SIA

I tried a USB turntable thinking that all my stereo equipment may be unnecesary. Not so. I found that the sound quality of the USB turntable was vastly inferior to my old faithful Technics SL-D2 and Pickering cartridge. I have recorded old albums that are almost too scratchy to play. They sound like...

Working With REALLY Bad Tapes....

I was able to properly and rapidly seperate tracks on a cassette tape that was recorded in such a way that there was NO track seperation. All the songs were recorded one right after the other. On The EDIT screen, I was able to use the ZOOM feature and find the start and ending of each track. They we...

I just used all my free version of SIA, so I guess its time to get out my credit card. A couple of other observations from my tinkering today. First, I have learned that the Level Wizard does not always set the volume high enough for the software to recognize and identify track. higher volume seems ...

I tried recording a cassette tape with about 25 songs on it total (both sides). There was a couple of songs that the software did not identify the tracks correctly on. I had trouble trying to identify where the problem was and then even more trying to correct them, since instead of having ten or twe...

Wunnerful, wunnerful!!!!

I researched vinyl restoration programs for six months. I found SIA about two months ago, and since that time, I have tried to find a reason NOT to use it. I tried to download the free version of the software to see if SIA really worked. I had trouble downloading the software due to my Trend Micro n...

Greg, YOU ARE A GENIUS!!!!! The link you provided above allowed me to download and install SIA without a hitch and without any input from Trend Micro. Trend Micro is the best security program I have ever seen, but it is really touchy sometimes about downloads and such. Thanks for all your help and I...

Greg......thanks for your reply. "Dangerous"was exactly the word that Trend Micro used! I got "the big red screen" which means the world will blow up if you mess around on this site.......I will try the link you suggested and get back to you. I haven't mailed my order yet, so the...

Now what?

I tried to download the free version of SIA this evening. My Trend Micro security program will not let me download it! Says that the download would be a major security risk. That this site is involved in malware, blah, blah, blah. Is there a disk I can buy? I really want to get started with this and...

Thanks for your reply. Actually, I used the wrong terminology. I should have asked if I could transfer music files from SIA to MY MUSIC file on Windows and then play it on Media Player and/or make my CD's from WMP. If I understood your reply correctly, I can. Please advise if I mis-understood..........

transfer files to Windows Media Player

This topic may have already been discussed, but I missed it. I want to transfer and store my files from SIA to Windows Media Player and use WMP to burn the CD. I am using a fairly new Windows 7 64 bit computer with 8 gb of RAM and a 1 TB hard drive. Am I on the right track, here? Thanks........GREG
