I just had the same error. I've been using Mixcraft with my Yamaha keyboard for many years. I always do all the things you wrote, but today, out of nowhere, it didn't work. I bought a new usb to MIDI cable, but same error again.Acoustica Greg wrote:Hi,
Make sure the MIDI Out on the keyboard is connected to the MIDI IN part of the adapter cable. That's a common mistake.
Also, we've found that there are a lot of defective MIDI-to-USB cables out there. Some of the cheapo ones just don't work.
This all assumes you're trying to record MIDI on a virtual instrument track within Mixcraft. Be sure to arm a virtual instrument track (not an audio track) when you test it.

Try connecting your Yamaha keyboard back to your computer the same way it worked for many years... Then restart the computer and see if works again like it use too.dimitreze wrote:I just had the same error. I've been using Mixcraft with my Yamaha keyboard for many years. I restarted many times. I tried all types of combinations on what to plug at what time. Nothing so far.jlouvar wrote:NOTE: Greg's post was taken from http://forums.acoustica.com/bbs/viewtop ... =4&t=25085

Hi,
When you say that you have the same error, you're not getting an error message are you? Is the problem that you're not receiving MIDI from your keyboard? Which kind of keyboard do you have?
Do you see the little MIDI In light at the bottom of Mixcraft's screen light up when you play your keyboard?
Make sure no other programs are running when you test this - other programs can intercept the MIDI data.

Hi!
No, not a error message. Mixcraft just won't recognize my keyboard when I arm the track.Acoustica Greg wrote:When you say that you have the same error, you're not getting an error message are you?

I tested this way. It didn't work. But this was never the problem. It was working fine until 1 week ago.Acoustica Greg wrote:Make sure no other programs are running when you test this - other programs can intercept the MIDI data.

Hi,
Are you using the USB-to-Host port or the MIDI Out port on the keyboard?

Hi,
You could try using the USB-to-Host connection and see if that works for you.
For MIDI Out, double-check (or triple-check) that you have the MIDI Out on the keyboard connected to the MIDI In part of the adapter cable.
Have you tried installing the Yamaha USB driver again?

Hi Greg!
Thanks!
I don't have the type of cable for this.Acoustica Greg wrote:You could try using the USB-to-Host connection and see if that works for you.
Yes, I'm quite aware of that, it didn't work.Acoustica Greg wrote:For MIDI Out, double-check (or triple-check) that you have the MIDI Out on the keyboard connected to the MIDI In part of the adapter cable.
I don't know how to to this, but it was never necessary before.Acoustica Greg wrote:Have you tried installing the Yamaha USB driver again?

Hi,
Installing the Yamaha USB MIDI driver may be the golden ticket: https://usa.yamaha.com/support/updates/ ... 4_kbd.html
There's also a 32-bit version if for some strange reason you have 32-bit Windows.
