MIDI Editing
I'm trying to edit a MIDI file and I'm having trouble with the instruments. Everytime I change the instrument and hit play it simply changes the instrument right back to what it was before. This is extremly frustrating especially with the drum tracks becuase it keeps turning the drum sounds into a piano and it doesn't sound very nice at all.

When you load .mid files, they can have all sorts of extra MIDI settings. Check out this FAQ entry on "program change" messages.
