Sound Playback

Post by Leigh »

Hi folks,

Two things:

1. My wife has herself a digital piano which I would like to connect up to Pianissimo via a MIDI cable to her desktop.
My question is, can the sound playback be routed through her piano's speakers rather than her desktop speakers? If so, how so?

2. I own Mixcraft and run it on my own desktop and I would need to install it on hers as well. Is that kosher? Or is it a desktop and laptop only? Am I allowed to have two installs of Pianissimo? One for mine, one for hers?

That's more than two things...:)

Pianissimo is very, very nice people!

Leigh.

I just realized that Pianissimo runs standalone so that brings it back to two questions. I need not install MC for my wife.

If your wifes keyboard is listed in the playback devices you can set it there. Similar to Mixcraft.

Thanks Eric. :D
I should have guessed that really but I have to buy a MIDI to USB cable and I'm worried it won't show up in devices.
I worry a lot. It's what I do...

Thanks for that Raidx.
The piano has in, out and thru.
The MIDI to USB cables I've found so far are as expensive as Pianissimo itself!

Not sure if this helps you but the M-Audio Delta1010LT cards in my studio computer have actual midi in/out, not a usb interpretation. You might consider one of those which will give you the ability to record analog and midi using the same interface.

It does!
That's a great idea Eric.
Does the Delta have a software control panel that I can use to make the switch?
Or can you just select that in MC?

I've had nothing but bad experiences with Ebay.
The fact that people can sell goods without having to provide a physical address to their customers means I can't kick them in the rocks if they swindle me.
Thanks for the links though Raidx.

Nice!
Thanks for posting that.
The card itself look hideously complex. There's all sorts of stuff hanging out of it.
