I have read that Toontrack's EZDrummer works with Mixcraft.

Will EZKeys work as well?

What about EXMix2?

Hi,

I believe EZMix should work. I'd never heard of EZKeys. If it's available as a VST plugin, you could give it a try in Mixcraft.

EZDrummer vsti, EZKeys vsti, and EZMix vst effect all work in Mixcraft v5 and v6, no problem.

You are correct about EZDrummer. I use it whenever I need drums in a project.

You might also want to look at the video demo of EZMIX2. I just bought it because it makes mixing so much easier since it uses pre-set effects.

Currently, I use REAPER. I like it, but it is so far over my head. I just started evaluating the trial version of MC6. I just hope that I will be able to use my ZOOM R16 as a control surface in MC6.

Have you found that EZ Drummer is CPU intensive. I was looking at one of the video tutorials and it shows as using almost 400 meg of ram

I really haven't paid much attention to cpu usage. Each of my projects so far have been in REAPER and consist of drum track, acoustic guitar, electric guitar, and vocals. So, my projects are not very demanding. Now that I am trying out MC6, however, I would like to incorporate some virtual instruments (strings, piano, organ, orchestra, and so on). Of course, this would be more demanding on my computer. Luckily, my computer is large enough to handle it. (That's why I inquired about EZDrummer, EZMIX2, and EZKeys. These are the only plugins I'm currently using and I wanted to make sure they will work with MC6).

Don't get me wrong, I like REAPER; its a great DAW. They have a great forum community. Its just that the software itself is way over my head. That's the thing I like about Mixcraft. Its very easy to use compared to others.

Am I doing something wrong?
Isn't it supposed to see a drum pattern editor like:
snare - O O O O
kick - o o o o o
cymbal - oooooooooooooooo



At least I guess that's the way it is supposed to work: you load a pattern from the library, and you use it the way it is, or edit it at your own taste.

Hi,

I think EZ Drummer sometimes generates teeny tiny notes. If zooming in isn't enough, in Mixcraft 6, you can select all the notes, then stretch one of them out to stretch them all.

Thanks man... that did explain a little of EZdrummer (although in the video it seems simpler than it really is ).
I must however conclude that Mixcraft doesn’t have an appropriate menu midi editor (at least that video was in Pro Tools, and the guy could zoom the patterns to edit it).

Should I be moving to another DAW to work with EzDrummer?!

Or, like Greg suggested, wait for Mixcratf 6. Does M6 have a proper Menu Editor?

I bought it last night and downloaded it and the update. Loaded it in to MC6 this morning. Have not had time to play with it yet. Looking forward to it though.
