Just wanted to encourage any of you taking the "musicianship" course, this may seem simplistic, but the exercises are actually very good practice and building blocks IMO! I like the casual and different approach.
Stick with it! Music theory might be best learned in little bits, fetched from here and there......
So, no takers on the "history of western music" course I take it? (See previous post.)

Taking Songwriting and Musicianship. So far both are good. Wish the instructor for Musicianship didn't spend have the lecture trying to impress us with his playing -

Crap! I knew this one was going to be a fun course! I'm going through some health issues right now and I don't have the energy for taking the course. Maybe the next one? Keep posting the ins and outs so I can keep up with the issues.

Re: Another Free Coursera Course
Sorry to hear that Tom, hope its nothing serious!
I am just watching the lecture vids and doing the quizzes, no time for assignments and peer reviews. I am finding it light hearted and interesting.
Though the difficulty factor is very low, introducing basic ear training adds interest and I am always up for material review, even if I feel I already know the material fairly well. And sometimes it helps me to look at things from a different perspective so I take all these I can.
As far as the piano ditties go, I find it adds interest and sometimes even helps me memorize the point being made. Sometimes its like a pause to let things sink in. The instructor is sure enjoying himself anyway!
It sure is a polar opposite to that music fundamentals course from Edinburg Univ!
