When you finish what you're doing and save your changes, whatever, great. But when I close my version of the same file, and save changes, my version of the file will replace yours, and all of your work will be gone.
See what I mean?

Oh yeah. I might suggest freezing a track that we can all live with first then start. The vocal copy I got hold of doesn't sync with the new and improved version.
I'm also getting a: "Unable to load effect "K-Meter (Stereo x64)" screen when the project opens. I have no idea what that means. I'm running MCPro64bit. -h

Nope, can't save a 7 file as a 6, wondered about that. Crap. Don't want to downgrade, either. Maybe Markus will be getting a very early (or late) Christmas present from yours truly
On a side note, you are using an effect which is not native to Mixcraft, because it wouldn't load:
K-Meter (Stereo x64)
It's going to be hard for folks with lots of plugins, but we should stick to native plugins and VST's for a while.

Not a bad idea, in fact might have to do that with Markus. A very good idea actually. But I would really really really like everyone who can to work with the same project files for the reasons I outlined to Tom. Just saves so much time which would be wasted importing, exporting, merging, aligning, syncing....!!!

I'm having issues with DropBox as well as I can't determine which is the most current version and where it is at any given moment. It's no wonder producers/engineers are high all the time. I'm gonna have to slow down, at least for the moment, as I need a firmer grasp. -h
H, I think your problem is that you are looking for wav files to work with. Just drag the whole folder PROJECT FILES into the WORK IN PROGRESS folder, open the Mixcraft file If I Didn't Care.mx7 and you should have the most current everything! When you're done, save your changes, drag the folder back to where it was, and TaDa!
That's why we should all work with the same file, so everyone has the most current version.
If the folder IF I DIDN'T CARE isn't there, it's because someone else has dragged it to the WORK IN PROGRESS folder and is working on it. Get a coffee and wait your turn!
Now if someone passes out before dragging it back, we'll have to have a talk...
This post was edited to reflect renaming of PROJECT FILES folder -Paul

It's cool, though, we learned something to watch out for. Neat, too, that two others spotted it right away and we were able to 'hop on it' right away.
I'm sure in future projects it will be of benefit to set up a VST folder for putting freeware plugins and web links to same. Sometimes Mixcraft just doesn't have that certain something and an outside plugin fits the bill.

I think we should take advantage of the fact that Markus isn't ready to upgrade to version 7 yet and learn some lessons in collaborating across different versions of Mixcraft or even different DAWs.
I'm emailing everyone in the group to see what version(s) of Mixcraft we've got on our PC's. Um, yeah, I guess that should have been step 1 lol. When I've got that sorted, and do some actual recording and cleanup myself (looking forward to actually creating instead of organizing!), I'll either move things over to a .mx6 file and ask that we work in 6 at least through basic tracking or until we need the benefits that 7 offers. OR I can easily create a parallel file to enable 6'ers to lay down tracks. Either way, we'll learn something about collaborating like this, so it's worth the effort.
I opened our file up and solo'ed the first two tracks and didn't hear anything. The other tracks seemed fine. So I put it back and let it be. Maybe it's a cross version thing... I don't know.
First two tracks volume is turned down. These are the original vocal and guitar. The next two tracks are my takes on tweaking vocal and guitar, duped the original tracks so not to lose them, and tweaked the ones I worked on.
Well Freightgod, welcome to my hell. I should have chimed in earlier, but have been busy.
I went through a similar learning curve trying to do a collab project last year, and got frustrated enough with a few of the realities you are just getting into that the project is still languishing in limbo. I will get back to it, but this is tricky and requires some serious forethought and way more work than expected.
I will come back and finish reading this thread to get caught up with where you all are at, and offer some suggestions. Possibly later tonight. Have mucho work to do.
I will tell you that the first thing I learned was that my attempts at keeping it simple at first werent nearly simple enough........

That makes perfect sense. Maybe that is in the project notes and I just didn't take the time to read it. Perhaps if freightgod has taken on the task of being the producer as well, he might freeze the tracks he likes so we can take a stab at some percussion. Or, it might be good enough as is.
I don't see this collaboration as anything near chaos yet and I feel like we've done a good thing so far.
