As an aside, does this Oud sample sound realistic to y'all?

I am not sure what you are going for, it sounds like a bunch of synth music to me.

I'm just curious to know whether the Oud sounds realistic.

Not knowing what an OUD is, i googled it and came up with this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=leqt9vzOgvk
If that is what you are going for, then no sorry it sounds nothing like that to me.
But that OUD video is cool! I want an oversized acorn with strings too!

That's the one alright.
Aren't they great sounding things?
The samples I have sound just like that so it must be the way I am programming them isn't working.
Thanks for the feedback.

Eric,
Many thanks.
You inadvertently helped me to find that very sound.
Moved a dial inside the Kontakt player and whoomf.
Sounds spot on!
Nice one.

I don't know what an Oud is or what it should sound like, but this track sounds great as is. But if you are trying to get an authentic instrument sound, looks like Eric is assisting.

Always there to support me!
There is a particular dial inside Kontakt Factory Selection for the Oud sample patch called 'sound'. It is activated when in solo mode.
It is by far, the most curious thing I've come across thus far.
Turning that dial gives you an authentic Oud sound (many different sounds in fact), however, it changes the MIDI arrangement you program in and hence nothing much of your original idea is left, and is replaced by something that is sometimes awful and sometimes inspiring.
I am simultaneously stupified and intrigued by what it does and have no idea how to predict the changes it will make.
Have you come across this before?
I love NI's gear.
It is a true playground for the mind.

No, and it makes no sense. Any chance of doing a screen capture so I can see what's happening?
