Jazz?
Have been playing with the demo, very intuitive.
Question: I see there is something called a song kit which I assume is like a style, but there does not seem to me any Jazz kit. This is the genre that I am most interested in. Is there a place to download these? Doesn't look like it in the help file......so can jazz be successfully and easily created using this product?

I never noticed before but you are right, there is no jazz.
Hmm, maybe we can mention this to our loop guy.

Hmmm, not quite sure why you took offense to that. My point was the lack of loops shouldn't hinder you from creating ANY type of music with Mixcraft.Steve Cat wrote:Yes, I am well aware of that.
Question: how would you like a response to your questions like that?
???You are really clever, but how do you rank for empathy?
OK let's try another angle.
How would I go about creating a ii, V, I progression?
I see I can change the key, but not to a minor.
The idea is also to get the music out of me and down on paper, and binary so I can express my creativity and experiment with different tools than my guitar that may help me to become a better musician.

You can't switch from major to minor or vice versa using prerecorded audio loops. You need to use MIDI or virtual instruments.
If you need help with MIDI, please check out the support and video tutorial area for Mixcraft.

If you want to do this a lot with loops you need good loop collections (plural). So be prepared to spend the cash.
With midi you can do anything that you want, but it's even more tedious than manipulating loops. And you need a good guitar vsti unless you don't mind a poor sounding guitar. I recommend Real Guitar.

Notion Progression is much like a midi editor/instrument. Mixcraft does the same thing but without the score or tab interface/output. Progression also gives you a lot of flexibility with articulations (bends, etc.) that can be difficult or impossible with midi (Although Real Guitar can emulate these things decently.)
As far as programming/recording a midi progression, here is an example of a ii-V-I progression in A in mx4 format.

Hi guys,
When you talk about 'jazz' what styles are you hoping for? We're working on a jazz kit to be released soon. Our plan is to go with a traditional "old school" jazz sound, like this classic Dave Brubeck piece:

Would this be something you'd use? Or are you hoping for a more modern jazz sound, perhaps a Kenny G sound, or something else entirely? Please let us know what you'd like to hear in Mixcraft!
Thanks,
Acoustica Dan

Hi,
The latest version of Mixcraft (4.2 build 102) now has Jazz loops!
We just released it today.
Greg
P.S. It's also got some new horror soundscapes, just in time for Halloween.
