Piano Roll/Midi Editor Issue after most recent update

Post by epinvt »

Hey Guys. Doing some midi editing this morning, after build update, and noticed I'm no longer am able to select notes or keys by clicking on them (in either piano or step modes. I can select them within the grid, if using the mouse to highlight. Any idea what happened?

Hi,

You do have build 578, right?

It's working for me. Maybe check your snap setting? Make sure it's not set to 1 bar or something.

Note: in step mode, the notes would disappear if you clicked on them with the pencil tool. You just toggle them on or off instead of moving them.

Greg

Edited to add: also, which tool do you have selected?

Hey Greg. Yes, Build 578. In "step" edit tab, double clicking on corresponding note used to select all notes. It still functions on the "piano" edit tab but no longer on step edit. I used this mainly for quickly removing individual drums/cymbals from a track and then deleting all unused voices. I'm not even seeing the "delete unused voices" option now.

Hi,

It's never worked that way in Step mode as far as I know. In Piano mode, double-clicking on a note brings up note properties. You can press Ctrl+A to select all notes.

The "Remove Unused Voices" option can be found if you right-click just below the list of voices.

Hi,

Wait a second, are you talking about double-clicking on a piano key or voice to select all the notes in that row?

You should actually be able to double-click on a voice to select the notes. I'll file a bug report. Thanks for reporting this.

But it probably doesn't have anything to do with the latest update, this would already have been there.

In the meantime, it still works in Piano mode so you could temporarily switch to that.

Hey Again Greg. Yes that is what I was trying to explain. Tried to attach some screen shots to provide a visual but couldn't manage to upload.
Yeah, there's been a couple weird "glitch's" I've found in the editor since MX10. Most I'm discounting as user error--for now lol.
Also, this is off topic but . . . . something else I'm experiencing is a kind of "visual latency" where the mixer's track vu meter signal lags slightly behind the audio. I thought at first it was maybe tied to the new "scaling" feature (which is great) but any changes in that didn't seem to effect it. I've tried different graphics settings and resolutions, also still happens.

BTW: Really appreciate what you guys do on this forum. Hopefully, the positive acknowledgements outweigh the product complaints.

Hi,

Thank you, we appreciate that.

The next update will fix some piano roll issues, including the one you reported and some related issues.

Greg,
Thanks for the update. Everyday, I'm finding more "weird" stuff going on in both step and piano editing. Able to work around some of the issues but can't wait to get back to the functionality that MC9 had in that area.

Hi,

Like what?

Edited to add: a small constellation of step editor issues will be fixed in the next build, so if it's additional step editor stuff it could already be fixed.

I Also noticed in 10.1 578, right clicking on the keys in the step editor no longer brings up a pop-up menu. This may be tied to the double left click thing as well.

the options in the pop-up menu in MC 9 when right clicking on the step editor keys/key names (not right clicking on the grid) were:

Add Voice
Voice Chooser...
Select Notes
Delete
Remove Unsused Voices

These are no longer present in MC 10.1 578
