[SOLVED] MX10 "freezing" on screen but still playing?

Post by MikeDVI »

Hi all,

Working on a sketch song in MX10 B470 - EDIT CORRECTION B579 - with Spitfire BBCSO (free) on about 25 tracks. It started with a template having 48 tracks setup, but I have since deleted the unused tracks in a new save.

The VST is open on each track, however each is set to a different instrument. In researching Spitfire, supposedly this is not an issue and part of the design of the Spitfire app. What I am finding is MX10 screen is frozen or jumps to "catch up" when I hit play however the song is playing (sound) fine. I am still suspicious about having this many instances of the same vst open.

No other song in MX10 is doing this, so I have to assume there is something else in the way I have it setup causing it. I am considering a different VST like Audio Imperia Nucleus for Kontakt where I can multi out.

At any rate system specs are in my sig, FWIW

Thanks as always - Mike

Hi,

How does that project work in Mixcraft 10?

OK, I see where I got the build versions backwards, my bad. Project is in MX10 B579. You may have seen in my sig MX9, yes I still us that but older projects being wrapped up at this point.

What settings do you have in your Presonus interface? Are you also closing each instance of BBC SO when you are happy with the track? Do you also use a lot of FX VSTs? Sometimes they can be real buggers in messing up a project.

[SOLVED] MX10 "freezing" on screen but still playing?

Post by MikeDVI »

Seems that I have nailed this down to the "freezing" or "jumping" only happens when I have a midi clip open for editing, especially on my second monitor and that clip is pretty long where much of it is grayed out. I was able to make this happen in another song as well.

Example would be a small clip dragged to lengthen or duplicate it (screenshot below) then it shows the dragged areas as greyed.

So I think the lesson learned is always mix to new clip before editing, seems to clear it up. And slow down LOL

Greg - sorry about the misinformation in my original post.
