My tracks are slowing down and garbled. Memory issue?

The whole sequence turns garbly and slow at random points, then picks up again for awhile. Doesnt happen when burning.

It's almost as if the system can't handle it. Started after I added 8 more individual drum tracks.

I have an alienware with 2 gigs of ram. Do I need more?

It's bummin me out.

Sounds like you're pushing your machine too hard. Try freezing tracks that you're not actively changing, using the Freeze Tracks option. This will take a lot of the load off of your CPU, allowing you to play back a lot more tracks. You can always unfreeze them to get back where you were.

Dan, I tried freezing my drum tracks, threw the whole thing out of whack. Any suggestions?

What are good system specs for heavy recording on Mixcraft? Whats ideal?

Make sure you get the latest version of Mixcraft 4.5, there were some issues with freezing tracks in earlier builds that may have thrown your project out of whack.

When it comes to working with audio, the more horsepower your computer has - memory, CPUs, raw speed - the better.
